After the Second World War, Pablo Picasso chose to live and work on the Côte d'Azur. He has a strong attachment to the Mediterranean cities and he will choose to install his workshop, the Fournas, in an old perfume factory in Vallauris in order to experiment with a new technique that holds its full attention: the ceramics. A museum in Antibes is dedicated to him at Grimaldi Castle, from where you can contemplate the sea from its beautiful terrace.

The Napoleon Road

On March 1, 1815, Napoleon Bonaparte landed in France, exactly in Golfe Juan, with a handful of men to regain his title following his exile on the island of Elba. It will follow a period of one hundred days during which Napoleon will cross with his men the mountains to Grenoble, to reach the Tuileries. Napoleon Road is the 314 km stretch of road that connects Golfe Juan to Grenoble via Gap and Digne. Gulf Juan is the starting point. A celebration takes place every year between February and March.

Golfe-Juan Vallauris, 1 km from our charming hotel, is a city with many facets. It is renowned for being an international center of traditional ceramic and artistic creation. By the end of the 14th century, 3 pottery factories were already installed in the current street of Tours. In 1829 there were 32. Many pottery courses are offered. The National Museum of Pablo Picasso in Vallauris houses War and Peace in the Chapel of the Castle.
